Reply to Zaid Hamid’s Video while he was defending

A new video of 58 minutes is posted on youtube in which zaid hamid is defending Yusuf Kazzab and says that he “just knew yusuf as so many people knew him and Yusuf Ali was a big “scholar of Islam” but Khabrain news paper dragged him into court with the help of some Molvis because of money”. At the end of video zaid hamid also requests the students not to show this video in public but advises them to show this to “satisfy” only those students who were in confusion because just 1 week before some students destroyed zaid hamid’s program in Islamic University Islamabad because of Yusuf kazzab issue. Zaid Hamid was not expecting that one of them will upload this video on internet and even that 2^nd year medical student was threatened by Zaid Hamid group who uploaded this video but all went in vein and zaid hamid was no way left to accept it officially.

Zaid hamid shown some documents as ‘proof’ (not readable to camera) and claimed some points which we ll discuss one by one below providing the proof that Zaid Hamid’s video and claims are full of lies and conspiracy. Now we discuss with evidences all points raised by Zaid Hamid in video one by one.

1-Only “Khabrain” reported Yusuf Kazzab Case? And book “ Fitna yusuf Kazzab” consists of only and only “Khabrain” news clippings?

Zaid Hamid claims again and again in video that Only Khabrain reported news of yusuf kazzab and no single newspaper of Pakistan covered it and even no news is from any other news paper because ‘Khabrain reporter’ Mian Ghaffar had some issue of money with yusuf kazzab. When a boy asked about the book “ Fitna Yusuf Kazzab” then Zaid Hamid says that this book have only Khabrain news clipping and no news from other newspaper. According to zaid hamid “ khabrain ne chaar molvi sath mila ke yusuf ko phansa dya”. 


Reply:-We see the book “Fitna yusuf Kazzab” ( published in October 1997 containing all reports and articles regarding yusuf kazzab’s case) and see in 1997 when yusuf was just put in trial and he was not killed, what the writer says on it. And Zaid Hamid’s lie is also cleared here that ‘this book only contains “Khabrain” clippings’.

Who is Zaid Hamid?

So, I turn to you, my collective hive brain. Who is this “Dr.” “Prof.” Zaid Hamid? He has, from most accounts, secured a niche similar to Glenn Beck in Pakistani media – combining ultra-nationalism with a taste for finding Zionist or Hindu involvement in the Pakistani sphere. Here he explains, for example, what truths lie behind “conspiracy theories”:“We are against the Zionist politics of the Brahmanical elite”. Alrighty then. Some other hair-raising stuff here with Ali Azmat.He is also, through his privately produced program Brass Tacks, engaged in producing historical narratives – from Khalid b. Walid to 1857 – the “War of Independence”. (“More Indians were killed by the British between 1757 and 1857 than at any time in the previous 5000 years”). Naturally, this makes me very, very interested in him, professionally speaking.


The cursory searches on the internets reveal all kind of contestations – he is an agent of ISPR, he is a true Muslim, he is a former acolyte of a claimant to the Prophethood, he is a true Muslim, etc. What I am really interested in, is figuring out his audiences, his appeals to them, and his theories of media (and mediation). His wiki page is no more than a stub. Can we fill this profile up? Can we place him on a scale of Glenn Beck to Yusuf al-Qaradawi?
